Bluenose II Restoration Project

Lunenburg Foundry is a key partner in the restoration of Bluenose II.  The company's role involves engineering and executing the deconstruction phase of the project, the design and development of the reconstruction facility, the fabrication and installation of the steel components of the restored vessel and the design, engineering and installation of all of the major mechanical and electrical systems.  Lunenburg Foundry is a shareholder in the newly formed Lunenburg Shipyard Alliance.

Lunenburg Shipyard Alliance Overview

The Lunenburg Shipyard Alliance has been specifically formed to address the challenges associated with the upcoming Bluenose II Restoration Project by combining the resources of Lunenburg Foundry & Engineering Limited, Snyder's Shipyard Limited of Dayspring, Lunenburg County and Covey Island Boatworks Limited of Lunenburg.

Having worked together on numerous projects over the years and with more than 200 years combined business experience, this alliance has been formed to consolidate the expertise and capabilities of our three companies and provide a broader umbrella of integrated services, seamlessly through one organization.  The combined strengths and capabilities of our three companies make us the ideal team for this project.

Lunenburg Foundry & Engineering Limited and Lunenburg Shipyard, have the perfectly suited marine railway and haul out facility located in Lunenburg, a diversified team of skilled marine trades people, and much experience in refitting vessels of this kind, including Bluenose II.

Snyder's Shipyard Limited has a wealth of experience in wooden vessel construction and repair as well as many other aspects of marine and vessel servicing.

Covey Island Boatworks Limited continues to build world class sailing and power yachts for an international market, vessels which have received many international awards and recognition and helped build this yard's reputation as one of the foremost composite wood builders in the world.

Within these three companies resides a combined wealth of experience of over 200 years of successful business in Nova Scotia's marine industry.  Much of the strength of our companies is our people.  A conservative estimate is that our team possesses well in excess of 1000 years of marine industry knowledge and experience.

Few, if any, other equally talented teams could be assembled for what is such an important Restoration project. We are confident in our team's ability to see this project completed successfully.
