Fire Bird

CFAV Firebird is a Fire tug base in Halifax harbour and in used in harbour protection by the Canadian Navy. Repair and maintenance for this vessel is controlled by SNC Lavalin Defence Programs. This project was completed between August and November of 2007.

This refit consisted of steel plate repairs, valve overhaul, vessel painting, Z-Drive propulsion overhaul, fire pump overhaul, bow thrusters overhaul and a new diver’s platform. The Z-drive units were completely removed from the vessel, disassembled and examined for wear and brought back to the manufactures standards. They were reinstall in the vessel at completion of the repairs.

This job was completed to specification and the customer was pleased with the work completed.
