Bluenose II
Beat to the windward once more!
Lunenburg Shipyard is honoured, to be frequently selected to carryout repairs to Bluenose II.
As Nova Scotia's No. 1 floating ambassador Bluenose II is a lasting symbol of excellence and success. She represents a national heritage icon as her familiar image graces the Canadian 10 cent coin. “Bluenose II” is a worthy successor to her famed namesake. Thousands of people flock to view her when she sails into port.
Restoration Project
“Bluenose II” is sailing again because Canada had faith in our community of craftsmen.

A few years ago the future of Bluenose II was uncertain. It was speculated that the 30 year old schooner would be scrapped. Bluenose II needed to be saved... in time for the G-7 confrence in Halifax. In late 1994, After a period of inactivity, tenders were called. Bluenose II was extensively rebuilt at Lunenburg Shipyard at a fraction of the cost of replacement. Over 80% of her frames and planking were renewed, later, the decks and deckhouse were rebuilt, new spars added, and subsequently, new shafts, propellers and c.p. gear boxes were installed to extend her sailing life.

And the result is...
...Bluenose is sailing once again!
